Calexit May Be Making a Comeback

Calexit May Be Making a Comeback

Some voters will likely remember the recent plan to separate the state of California from the rest of the nation. This plan was referred to as Calexit. The plan was to have California secede from the Union to form its own, brand new country. The plan itself was very big, and received a lot of support and criticism from all sides.

The people behind the plan have until October 17 to gather enough signatures for the proposal to be placed on the 2021 ballot. However, as that deadline fast approaches, the groups seems to be largely abandoning that effort in favor of a new one. This is largely due to the fact that they have yet to acquire even 25% of the needed voter signatures to get the measure approved...

7 Tips for Preventing Wildfires

All Californians know that it is that time of year once again. Fire season is upon us. California has a tendency to have a hot, dry climate in summer. This can make it very easy for fires to break out and roar across the state. While winds may help cool us down, they only fan the flames, helping them spread farther, faster.

During this time of year it is very important that every Californian be more cautious with everything they do. One wrong move can start up a wildfire and cause thousands of dollars in damage. Nobody wants to be the one responsible for that.

The following are some tips we have gathered to help prevent wildfires in the first place.

What Is the Fourth Amendment?

What Is the Fourth Amendment?

Here in the United States, we are granted a lot of rights and freedoms thanks to the US Constitution. Many of the most basic rights we have come from the Bill of Rights, which is the first ten amendments of the Constitution. One of the many important amendments there is the Fourth Amendment.

The Fourth Amendment prevents unreasonable search and seizures of a person’s property. The official wording is as follows:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

What this means, is that law enforcement o...

Park Here, Not There

Park

The summer season is upon us, which can only mean one thing – an influx of traffic stemming from tourists, family vacations, and gorgeous weather. As you and your family embark on summertime adventures, we want to help ensure your trips are memorable for all the right reasons, and not because of parking violations that result in unwanted fines or tickets.

As you drive around town looking for the perfect, shady, parking spot keep these laws in mind regarding parking at colored curbs.

• White– Stop only long enough to pick up or drop off passengers or mail.
• Green– Park for a limited time. Look for a posted sign next to the green zone for time limits, or locate the time limit painted on the curb.
• Yellow– Stop no longer than the time posted to load or unload passengers or freight...

It’s Not Just a Joyride

It’s Not Just a Joyride

There are plenty of games and shows that like to dabble in the excitement of being a criminal. They’re fun and thrilling to watch as the character steals a car and goes on a high speed chase. Californians love to watch real life high speed chases on the news every chance we get. It’s the adrenaline, the thrill that keeps us entertained. However, if we did this stuff in real life, we’d be in some serious trouble.

Watching these shows, or playing certain video games, doesn’t come with any consequences, but doing this kind of stuff in real life would. Joyriding in someone’s vehicle is a big no-no in the real world. In other states, joy riding isn’t as serious of an offense. However, in California, it is as serious as auto theft...

How to Play with the Hand You Were Dealt

There are a lot of things that make us sad in life. We often feel compelled to argue about, fight, and disagree with the cards that have been dealt in life. We don’t have to like what is happening in our lives, but we do have to accept it. Sure we can throw fits, and try to change what is happening in our lives, but ultimately, it is what it is. We can only control our actions and emotions. So when a loved one acts in a way that results in them being arrested, we must accept that they put themselves in those positions...
