In northern California along the Nevada border, by Yosemite National Park, is an old abandoned mining town known as Bodie. It is now a State Historic Park. The town was built around the Bunker Hill Mine 1861. The town was named after the miner William S. Bodey who discovered gold in the area in 1859, but unfortunately died the winter after his discovery.

For a long while, Bodie was a seedy mining town filled with all kinds of illicit businesses. The town faced many hardships, including harsh winters and numerous fires. Despite all of that, the town did have a population of nearly 10,000 around 1879. Eventually, the gold mine stopped producing ore, and the citizens began to leave the area.

In the state of California, disturbing the peace is illegal. A person charged with disturbing the peace can be fined, or even arrested. This means you should never let your anger get the better of you while out in a public setting. Starting a fight or argument with a stranger could lead to getting into trouble with the law.

In California, a person can violate the disturbing the peace law by doing the following:

• Fighting with someone in a public place.
• Creating loud noises with the intent to disturb someone.
• Instigating a fight with offensive words.

Responsibilities of Being a Parent

Being a parent takes an incredible amount of responsibility, including legal responsibility. Until a child turns 18 and becomes a legal adult, their parents are responsible for them in many ways. This includes needing to pay for consequences should their child get into trouble, cause problems, and/or get arrested.
